Car Design vs. Price -Poonit Patel

The lamborghini murcielago is priced well over 200k. All ferrari's are well above 150k. Pagani's and Koenigseggs dont go lower than 450k. The things all those cars have in common is that they look good and they are attractive to the comsumers.

Kia Sedona is priced under 50k. Mitsubishi Lancer priced under 30k. These cars are a couple levels under the exotic car group and are not too attractive to consumers.  Why?

Kia could make the same or similar body designs as Lamorghini, but why dont they. Its is obvious that the engine is one of the main key parts of the car that that give it its price. However, if lamborhini put a simple 4 cylinder FWD layout in its Gallardo, would it still be over 100k?

All im trying to say is the better the car looks, the more you have to dish in for it.

I give alot of respect to Toytota. Toyota is the first company Iv'e heard that is very soon going to put an attainable exotic onto its line. Attainable exotic means buying high-end cars for mid-range car price. Lotus, has the Elise and Exige priced for 60k, and by the LOOKS of it, you would think why dont more people drive it.

more to come....

I kind of disagree. I think that people would not be buying Ferrari's or Lamborghini's if they did not have such a spectacular engine and suerior parts than those of a Kia or Mitsubishi. Those facts do drive up the cost of a car, there is a reason why a Porsche can go from zero to sixty in far less time than an Acura or even Audi.

Also, I heard Volkswagen/Audi is going to start having lower-end Porsche engines in their cars because of their merger thing.

You are right when you said poeple would not be buying Ferrari's or Lamborghini's w/o its main features. However, if all the parts in a lambo were to be fit into a toytota corolla body and were to be sold at the same price, i highly doubt people would buy it?

If a lamborghini had the parts of a toyota camry, i would be very confused on how its gonna be priced. comparing the murcielagos body and the camry's body is .....

i now kind of believe that the companies name/brand has to do with the price.

If Lamborghini were to put similar parts in its murcielago as a Camry, wouldn't everyone have one?

first, what does this have to do politics? second, i disagree. i think people buy high end cars such as lamborghinis and ferraris not because of the engine but because of what they represent. these days, image is important above all else. ok, you're rich and you just bought a lamborghini murcielago, you just got an immediate status upgrade. people do not buy high end cars for their engines anymore, it's not realistic, when would people have the oppurtunity to use their car's full power. we live in a shallow society and no matter what the price, as long as it says lamborghini or ferrari on it, it will sell.

all im saying is that KIA can have one of the best selling cars if it looked very high-end. not only KIA but a lot of other automakers.

assume Lamborghini didn't shape the body on the gallardo as is now and Honda created that shape for one of their hybrid cars(or gasoline)...i think that car would be a best seller. First, its hybrid(or gasoline). Second, it looks good. Third, i dont want to hear BS that Honda would never shape a body like that and put it on a hybrid cars cause hybrids are supposed to look different than gasoline vehicles. Last, i assume it would not be expensive.

MAIN POINT (simple)- I've realized myself that the better the car looks, the higher the price is going to be. Does not apply to every single car, but most.
